Motorsport: Hartley to race in GP2 at Monza September 2010

New Zealand's Brendon Hartley will race with Italian team Coloni Motorsport in the final two rounds of the GP2 series, which is regarded as the strongest Formula One feeder category. The Palmerston North driver will race at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in Italy this weekend, and in the final round in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on November 13-14 2010.

Deep Impact Imaging Of Comet 103P/Hartley2 Begins

Some five years after its July 4th 2005 'comet shot' was seen around the world, the Deep Impact spacecraft has begun regular imaging of a second comet target, 103P/Hartley2. The spacecraft will continue imaging Hartley2 during and after its closest approach on November 4 2010, providing an extended look at the comet.

September 2010: [photo:Patrick Duis, Netherlands] Comet 103P/Hartley2 is still very faint. I could not see it visible, so I decided to try it photographically. This is a combination of 4 20min exposures at ISO800. The green-blueish colour that is very common to Comets is clearly visible. Over the coming months it will become more bright.
